About Us
Who is Narrows Water Polo?
Narrows Water Polo is a premier 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth athletic organization serving the Gig Harbor and South Sound communities. We provide high-level water polo instruction and competition for boys and girls ranging from elementary through high school.+1While we are proud of our competitive success in the pool, our primary role is serving as a "third space" for local youth—a place outside of home and school where they can develop the physical and mental resilience required for adulthood.
Our MissionOur mission is to cultivate character, capability, and community through the sport of water polo. We are dedicated to:Character Development: Using the unique rigors of water polo—one of the world’s most physically demanding sports—to teach perseverance, sportsmanship, and integrity.Inclusive Excellence: Providing a structured, safe environment where athletes of all skill levels can reach their full potential, regardless of their financial background.Community Stewardship: Representing the Gig Harbor area with pride in regional and national competitions, fostering a sense of local identity and teamwork.
Year-Round Engagement: Our Four Practice Sessions
Narrows Water Polo operates on a year-round schedule, providing consistent athletic opportunities for Gig Harbor youth across four distinct sessions. Our calendar is aligned with the Peninsula School District pool rental agreement to ensure reliable access for our athletes:
Winter Session: November – February
Spring Session: March – June
Summer Session: July – August
Fall Session: September – October
An Open-Door Policy: We pride ourselves on being an accessible "entry-point" sport for the community. Athletes are welcome to join at any time, regardless of where we are in the calendar. If a family discovers water polo mid-season, we encourage them to reach out and jump right in—we believe there is never a wrong time to start building character in the pool.
