18U & 16U Boys Club Mission
At Narrows Water Polo Club, our mission is to build a community united by passion, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence. We provide athletes of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to grow through expert coaching, dedication, and the challenge of competition. Committed to pushing our athletes beyond regional boundaries, we actively pursue high-level play and competitive experiences outside the Pacific Northwest to ensure the best quality of development and challenge. Together, we strive to develop strong players, confident leaders, and lasting friendships both in and out of the water.

Meet the Coaches
Coach David: Coach David graduated from Wilson High School in 2007, where he was a standout water polo player, named First Team All-State, and led his team to three state championships. He continued playing at the collegiate level, graduating from Chapman University in 2012, where he set a school record for most assists in a season.

Coach David has served as the head coach for both Wilson (Silas) and Stadium High School boys’ teams and was an assistant coach at George Washington University, helping lead the team to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. During his time at George Washington, he also served as the USA ODP Head Zone Coach for the Northeast Zone and was honored as USA ODP Coach of the Year in 2018.

He is currently the assistant coach for Gig Harbor High School and will serve as the head coach for the PNW Youth USA ODP team.

Mike Marr: Coach Mike played high school water polo at Stadium High School (2012–2016) before continuing his career at Concordia University Irvine, where he competed in both NCAA Division II water polo and swimming. As a player, he specialized as a center, bringing a strong technical and physical presence to his teams.

Since returning to the area, Mike  has served as an assistant coach for the Gig Harbor High School boys’ program. He has also coached with Puget Sound Water Polo and Narrows Water Polo, working with athletes of all ages and experience levels. This season, Mike  will serve as our Positional Coach, focusing on centers, post up players, and goalkeepers.

Coach Mike  brings an energetic and athlete-centered approach to the pool deck. He’s passionate about helping players build strong fundamentals and develop a genuine love for the sport. His commitment to player development and connection with athletes has already helped several players continue their water polo careers at the collegiate level.

Tournament Cost
This club season, we’re excited to offer our athletes the chance to compete in several high-level tournaments, with a strong focus on traveling to California to face some of the best clubs and teams in our sport. These opportunities will challenge our players, elevate their game, and expose them to top-tier competition that will help them reach the next level.

Athletes who are registered and actively training with the Narrows program will have first priority for these travel opportunities. If additional athletes are needed to round out rosters, we’ll then extend invitations to players from other local clubs.

Tournament cost will range in price as we need to ensure the full tournament cost includes:
- Tournament Registration Cost
- Coach Travel Expenses
- Coach Payment
- Hotel Cost
- Van Rental

Athletes will be responsible for purchasing their own airfare for tournaments outside of the PNW.

 Tournaments Logistics (Outside of PNW)
Narrows will be providing lodging and ground transportation to any tournaments outside of the PNW. Athletes will be required to purchase their own airfare and are always highly encouraged to purchase the team flight, to ensure they travel directly with the team. Parents are not required to attend, but are always welcome to join. If in attendance, parents will need to reserve and pay for their own ground transportation and lodging. Athletes, whether they stay in their assigned room or with parents, will still be required to pay the tournament fee with the hotel room included.

All Coaches and any designated chaperoning adults will not only be Safesport certified but also BOKRIM certified to ensure the safety of all athletes.
